Progress Report #80

Today I finished Chapter 33 of the 2nd draft. That leaves me just one more story-chapter, number 34, which I start tomorrow, and then a summing-up chapter, number 35. As I approach the end, I find the pace of my work accelerating. But I’m so tired. My intention is to finish by July 22. The day after, Judy and I leave for a ten-day camping trip. When we get back I intend to lay off the book until I really feel ready to take on the final draft, which I currently see taking me around a year and a half.

This next chapter deals with a temporary return to music, not as a profession, but as a discipline, a study. Blue monk. A tremendous feeling of defeat and exhaustion hounds me, but it turns out to be an illusion. If only I’d known… Oh! And there’s fire on the mountain…

Hope you enjoy the camping trip. I haven’t been camping in so long, it’s so hot here in Mo though that I wouldn’t want to go locally.

We’re going up north to the mouth of the Columbia River on the Washington-Oregon border.
