Every now and then the work on my book becomes difficult enough that thinking about this blog becomes a burden. So I’m going on hiatus until early September. I’ll try to post something by the 8th. Later this month I’m going to an artists’ retreat in Northern California. For two weeks I’ll be the only one there, except for the caretakers. The retreat is in a beautiful setting and far from any city. I won’t be allowed any communication with the outside world: no internet, no telephone, no email—except in case of an emergency. Those are the rules of the place, and I’m happy with them. I need to get away from the distractions of the world for awhile. The only hard part will be not having any contact with Judy. But it is an opportunity to deepen and set firm the opening of this final draft.
In the meantime, my best wishes to all of you.
