Something is Happening

Like most people I know, I was relieved that the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives. In the long run, though, I don’t believe it’s going to make much difference. It should be obvious by now (although I don’t think it is to most people) that this country, this empire, is in a state of collapse. Once an empire starts to go down nothing can stop it. The momentum is too great. All the classic signs are there—endless, expensive imperial wars; high levels of decadence and greed; a population obsessed with frivolous entertainment and celebrity; massive debt, a diabolically dishonest leader, and so on. Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again” is evidence of the collapse. But I think we’re seeing something more than the death of an empire, and what that is will be the focus of my blog in the coming months. Having tired of the hostile and just-plain-weird environment of Facebook, I intend to return my attention here now.

You are so correct, Mark. I’m glad you are back on your own site. Your views are always read and appreciated. After every day’s activities in D.C. (and today with the Cohen issue and Trump’s response saying “He’s a liar”, I am continually amazed the American public in particular does not see the collapse of this country as it is happening so quickly. Keep the Spirit you have had for so long. Love goes to you as you share your insights.

I’d just add that Obama was also duplicitous time and again. We gave him a pass because we thought he was on our side. None of them are in the end. The spying on Americans during Obama’s time doubtless goes on under Trump. No matter who we elect, it seems to go the same way. 😦

As I recall, I lost faith in him as soon as he started announcing the hacks he wanted to appoint to his cabinet.

I agree, Mark, especially involving the economy. Foxes guarding the hen house.. and he was rewarded by fat speaking fees as soon as he got out of office

Hi Mark. Yes, please write here and not on Facebook. I was on Facebook a few years ago for about 6 months and gave it up because it just rang untrue to me. While there is so much goodness in this world, nobody is as good as their Facebook profile proclaims them to be. And now, with all the other rubbish that Facebook is involved with it is just easier to stay away.

Good luck with finding a publisher for Street Song.
